Current Research

(1) The study of the bio-behavioural mechanisms underlying the effects of negative emotions on the cardiovascular system with a specific focus on myocardial ischemia and cardiac arrhythmias; (2) cognitive-behaviour therapy for promoting health behaviour change and adaptation to illness (e.g., treatment of depression following an acute coronary event); (3) enhancing adherence to health behaviour change (e.g., smoking cessation, diet, exercise, and medication adherence); (4) health risk appraisals and medical decision-making (e.g., developing effective communication interventions to facilitate people's accurate appraisal of health risk and their informed health-care decision-making; increasing understanding of irrational processes underlying personal health-risk appraisals); and (5) quality of life assessment (e.g., the measurement of quality of life in the evaluation of competing treatments).
